Financial Aid Disbursement
The Student Accounts Office handles the receipt and disbursement
of financial aid.
Before the Student Accounts Office is able to receive your financial aid
you need to follow these steps:
- You must complete and submit a FAFSA (Free Application
for Federal Student Aid) and list Binghamton University as the school of attendance.
- You must complete the TAP (New York State Tuition
Assistance Program) information sheet generated by Higher Education Services
Corporation (HESC) for consideration of an award if you are a resident of
New York State.
- You must receive an award package from theFinancial
Aid Office, accept the award package (Financial Aid Offer letter
detailing the aid you are eligible for) at the BUSI
Web Center to Accept/Reduce/Decline awards.
- You must complete a Master Promissory Note for
the Federal Direct Loan program.
- You must register for classes (advance
registration is STRONGLY recommended).
- You must return your bill to the Student Accounts
Office by the established deadline.
Once these steps are complete the Student Accounts Office
will be able to process the funds (not available until the
first day of classes; we must certify that you are in attendance and classes
have commenced prior to disbursement) through your account. Any funds that
exceed semester charges of tuition, fees, room and board will be refunded to
the student in a form of a check or in the form of a direct
deposit by electronic funds tranmissiom (EFT).
There are several different forms of financial aid presently
awarded to students at Binghamton University. Please explore the links below
