FEDERAL GRANTS
Pell Grants
Federal
Pell Grants are available to help part-time or full-time matriculated
undergraduate students pay for their educational expenses
in pursuit of a Bachelor's
Degree. Undergraduate students with a prior Bachelor's
Degree are not eligible. Only
students with greatest need, as determined by the federal
government by income, are
eligible for these grants.
To determine if you are eligible financially, the U.S.
Department of Education uses a
standard formula, established by Congress, to evaluate
the information you report on
the Free Application
For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
After your application is processed, you will receive
a Student Aid Report (SAR). The
Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number on you Student
Aid Report (SAR) will determine
if you are eligible financially to receive a Federal
Pell Grant. The amount of the grant depends
on you Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number and
the cost of attendance (COA).
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
(SEOG)
Federal
SEOG Grants provide assistance to full-time Pell Grant-eligible
undergraduates with
"exceptional" financial need. The amount of the award
is based on the availability of funds and
are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Unlike loans, Federal
Pell and SEOG grant funds DO NOT have to be repaid.
