Eligibility for New York State grants and scholarships is limited to legal residents of New York State who are full-time matriculated students at colleges and other postsecondary institutions located in New York State.
All students must meet conditions of satisfactory Academic Progress and Program Pursuit to continue receiving state assistance. At the end of each semester, academic records are reviewed to determine continued eligibility, using the Academic Progress Charts for State Financial Aid.
The estimated TAP that appears on the Financial Aid offer letter is only an estimate based on the information used to develop your package. Applications for TAP are generated by New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) in Albany upon the completion of the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as long as a New York State school is listed on the application. The information you provide on the FAFSA will determine whether you are financially eligible for an award. HESC will send you an award statement after your application is processed. Enclosed with that statement will be instructions on how to report changes or make corrections to application information.
